Eglė Mykolaitytė – juvelyrė, turinti istorijos išsilavinimą. Savo meniniams tyrimams renkasi įvairias medžiagas, siekdama atskleisti ryšius tarp atminties, teritorijos ir materialumo.
„Tarptautinė rezidencija Žagarėje mane domina dėl savo temos ir suteikiamų galimybių ją tyrinėti. Mano kūrybiniai interesai apima atminties, sąmonės, geologinės ir kultūrinės anamnezės temas. Ypač aktualūs man yra daugiakultūriškumo klausimai, žmogaus teisių pažeidimai, istorinė neteisybė, liudijimų nebuvimas bei neįvykęs teisingumas.“
Idėja rezidencijai susijusi su Žagarės architektūra, tradicijomis ir sakralumo praktikomis, nagrinėjant veiksmo ir atoveiksmio sąvokas, laiko chaotiškumą bei spiralines laiko struktūras, išvykimo ir sugrįžimo svarbą.
Kaip pagrindinę skulptūrinę medžiagą Eglė Mykolaitytė renkasi natūralų bičių vašką. Remdamasi atliktu tyrimu, planuoja sukurti objektą / skulptūrą „SIETYNAS“, pagamintą iš vaško. Ją domina Žagarės architektūrinių sprendimų tyrinėjimas ir jų gretinimas su sakralumo simbolika (žvakės, žvakidės, sietynai, šviestuvai), taip kuriant formą, kuri apibrėžia laiko neapibrėžtumą, chaotiškumą ir kartu ciklišką tvarką.

Eglė Mykolaitytė is a jeweler with a background in history. She selects a variety of materials for her artistic explorations, seeking to reveal the connections between memory, territory, and materiality.
“The international residency in Žagarė interests me because of its theme and the opportunities it offers to explore it. My creative interests encompass themes of memory, consciousness, and geological and cultural anamnesis. Issues of multiculturalism, human rights violations, historical injustice, the absence of testimony, and failure to achieve justice are particularly relevant to me.”
The concept of the residency is linked to the architecture, traditions, and sacred practices of Žagarė, exploring the concepts of action and reaction, the chaos of time and spiral structures of time, and the significance of departure and return.
Eglė Mykolaitytė chooses natural beeswax as her primary sculptural material. Based on her research, she plans to create an object/sculpture titled “CHANDELIER,” made of wax. She is interested in exploring the architectural solutions of Žagarė and relating them to symbols of the sacred (candles, candlesticks, candelabra, chandeliers), thereby creating a form that defines the uncertainty and chaos of time, as well as its cyclical order.
